Paul Rosenberg (also known as Paul Bunyan) (born August 1, 1971) is an American music manager known for his association with hip hop artists Eminem, The Knux and pop punk band Blink-182.[1] As well as managing said artists, Rosenberg is also the co-founder (with Eminem) of hip hop record label Shady Records, founded in 1999.[2] Rosenberg first became involved with Eminem in 1997, during the recording of The Slim Shady EP,[2] and has since been featured in a skit (titled "Paul" except on The Eminem Show, where it was called "Paul Rosenberg") on every album since The Slim Shady LP, with the exception of Recovery, as a character concerned with the particular record, advising Eminem on steps to take and often ordering him to "tone down" the lyrics or scrap the album completely.[3][4][5][6][7] With Eminem, Rosenberg co-wrote every skit on the 2009 album Relapse.[8] However, Eminem's most recent album Recovery does not feature any skits at all.
Paul Rosenberg is also affiliated with Steve Aoki, DJ and producer of Dim Mak Records, also with Martin the Bulgarian too.
Paul is also co-producer for Eminem's hip-hop radio station Shade 45, which is channel 45 on Sirius satellite radio and channel 66 on XM radio.
He is Jewish.[9]
Skits on Eminem albums
- The Slim Shady LP - Paul calls Eminem, advising him to tone down his lyrics.
- The Marshall Mathers LP - An obviously disturbed Paul calls Eminem to tell him that Dr. Dre gave him a copy of the album. After struggling with what to say next, he simply replies "Fuck it" and hangs up.
- The Eminem Show - Paul calls Eminem, telling him that Joel, the owner of 54 Sound Studios where Eminem records, has informed him that Eminem has been shooting his gun off behind the studio. He then pleads with him to leave his gun at home.
- Encore - Paul calls Eminem, telling him that Michael Jackson is extremely upset about the Just Lose It music video and that they need to talk about how they're going to handle the situation. Before he hangs up he also inquires about a rumor that Eminem bought a new gun. For the first time ever, he gets a return call from Eminem. In an altered voice, Eminem goes off on a rant while relieving himself on the toilet, incorporating several Jackson hits in the process. He also tells him that he doesn't have a new gun (followed by the sounds of bullets falling with Em yelling "God dammit"), which turns out to be a lie when Eminem commits a mock murder suicide at the end of the album.
- Relapse - Paul calls Eminem, totally disgusted with him for his mocking of Christopher Reeve in the song Medicine Ball, reminding him that Reeve is dead. After also taking him to task for the controversial subject matter in the song Insane, Paul tells Eminem that he is done and doesn't have his "back on this one" and hangs up.
